Nova analiza putanje asteroida 2001 CA21 predlaže potencijalno bržu rutu do Marsa koja bi celokupno kružno putovanje mogla skratiti na manje od jedne godine. Studija objavljena u Acta Astronautica ukazuje na dve moguće putanje u 2031. od oko 153 i 226 dana, ali obe zahtevaju brzine i tehnologije izvan današnjih mogućnosti. Šta je otkriveno?

Marcelo de Oliveira Souza, kosmolog sa State University of Northern Rio de Janeiro, proučavao je ranu predviđenu putanju bliskog Zemlji asteroida 2001 CA21. U članku objavljenom u časopisu Acta Astronautica on navodi da bi humanoj letelici bila moguća slična, vrlo direktna trajektorija do Marsa ako bi se lansiranje pažljivo tempiralo u odnosu na orbite Zemlje i Marsa.

Mogućnosti za 2031. godinu

Souzina analiza ukazuje da bi 2031. mogla ponuditi povoljan prozor za dve verzije kružnog putovanja sa ukupnim trajanjem od približno 153 i 226 dana. To su znatno kraći periodi od uobičajenih planova koji, zbog čekanja orbitalnih prozora, često traju oko tri godine za povratnu misiju sa ljudskom posadom.

Međutim, obe varijante zahtevaju brzine i performanse daleko iznad onoga što današnje rakete i sistemi za sletanje mogu da pruže.

Tehnička ograničenja i praktičnost

Souzin predlog je zasad uglavnom teorijski: traži veoma visoke brzine pri prelasku između orbita, kao i napredne sisteme za usporavanje i sletanje na Mars. To znači da bi, iako trajektorije postoje u računarskim modelima, njihova primena zahtevala ključna tehnološka unapređenja pre nego što postanu praktične za posade.

Kako se ovo uklapa u planove NASA

NASA koristi programe poput Artemis za prikupljanje iskustva u slanju ljudi i opreme dublje u svemir, što bi moglo pomoći pripremama za buduće misije na Mars. Separatno, agencija planira lansiranje prve nuklearno-pogonjene letelice nazvane Space Reactor-1 oko 2028. godine, sa planiranim dolaskom do Marsa oko 2030. Ta letelica bi mogla rasporediti tri helikoptera slična Ingenuity-ju radi izviđanja potencijalnih mesta sletanja i detekcije podzemnih izvora vode.

Fisioni nuklearni pogon na letelici mogao bi biti ključan na Marsu gde prašne oluje mogu danima ili nedeljama smanjivati efikasnost solarnih panela, čineći stabilan izvor energije važnim za misije i eventualne ljudske aktivnosti.

Zaključak

Ideja da se iskoriste prirodne orbite asteroida kao „prečice“ do Marsa je intrigantna i potencijalno korisna za planiranje budućih misija. Ipak, ostaje veliki jaz između teorijskih modela i trenutnih inženjerskih mogućnosti. Dalja istraživanja i tehnološki razvoj biće neophodni da bi se ovakve rute ostvarile u praksi.
