Ogromna raketa Starship kompanije SpaceX privremeno je prizemljena dok traje istraga o incidentu tokom najnovijeg testnog leta, objavila je Federalna uprava za vazduhoplovstvo (FAA).
Šta se dogodilo
Starship je poleteo 22. maja iz kompanijske baze Starbase u Južnom Teksasu na svom 12. testnom letu od aprila 2023. godine. Prvi stepen — Super Heavy — pokretalo je 33 Raptor motora i obezbedio je početni potisak pri liftoffu. Nakon odvajanja, gornji stepen je nastavio misiju koristeći svojih šest Raptor motora.
FAA je 27. maja saopštila da je tokom oko sat dugog leta zabeležen "incident": Super Heavy nije uspeo da ponovo zapali motore tokom delimičnog boostback manevra, što je rezultovalo nekontrolisanim spuštanjem boostera u Meksički zaliv. SpaceX je opisao događaj kao "hard splashdown" — snažan udar pri doskoku u vodu. Nije prijavljeno povreda niti materijalne štete na kopnu.
Šta je postignuto tokom leta
Gornji stepen je uspešno ispunio veći deo ciljeva misije: lansirao je 20 simuliranih (lažnih) Starlink satelita i dva modifikovana satelita koja su u jednom trenutku snimila Starship tokom uspona. Gornji stepen je potom pao i eksplodirao u Indijskom okeanu.
Istraga FAA i naredni koraci
FAA zahteva od SpaceX-a potpunu istragu incidenta, kao što agencija standardno radi kad se tokom svemirskog leta dogodi nešto neočekivano. SpaceX će morati da dostavi konačni izveštaj sa uzrocima i predloženim korektivnim merama pre nego što FAA odobri povratak Starshipa u letni režim. Dok traje istraga, Starship je prizemljen.
Zašto je ovo važno
Ovaj let je bio debi treće generacije Starship prototipa V3, najmoćnije verzije do sada: ukupna visina potpuno sklopljenog sistema je 407 stopa (≈124 m), Super Heavy je visok 236 stopa (≈72 m), a gornji stepen Starship 171 stopu (≈52 m). SpaceX razvija Starship da bi omogućio dopunjavanje goriva u orbiti — ključnu sposobnost za misije ka Mesecu u okviru NASA-inog Artemis programa i dugoročno za putovanja ka Marsu.
