Dva NASA astronauta, Jessica Meir i Anil Menon, planiraju zajednički izlazak van Međunarodne svemirske stanice (ISS) u svemirsku šetnju zakazanu za četvrtak, 6. avgusta. Prenos počinje nekoliko sati ranije kako bi gledaoci mogli da prate pripreme i početne procedure.
Vreme i prenos: NASA će uživo prenositi događaj od 7:00 po istočnom vremenu (ET) 6. avgusta, a izlazak astronauta je najavljen oko 8:35 ET. Zadatak i važnost šetnje
Ova operacija je planirana kao U.S. Spacewalk 96 — 96. svemirska šetnja sa astronautima NASA i 281. svemirska šetnja u istoriji ISS-a. Meir i Menon će raditi na modifikaciji 3B energetskog kanala stanice kako bi pripremili instalaciju novog solarnog niza kasnije tokom 2026. godine. Te tehničke izmene su važan korak u održavanju i unapređenju napajanja orbitalne laboratorije.
Posada i kontekst
Jessica Meir se vraća na svoj šesti izlazak u vakuum svemira; njeno iskustvo uključuje ranije misije na ISS između 2019. i 2020. Anil Menon je na svojoj prvoj misiji u svemiru i prvi put će izvesti svemirsku šetnju. Za šetnju je predviđeno da Meir nosi skafander sa crvenim prugama, dok će Menonov skafander biti bez oznaka, prema informacijama NASA.
