Hrišćani širom sveta obeležavaju Bogojavljenje, poznato i u zapadnoj tradiciji kao Dan Tri Kralja. Dok zapadni običaji često ističu dolazak tri maga kod novorođenog Isusa, pravoslavne crkve posebno naglašavaju Isusovo krštenje koje je izvršio Jovan Krstitelj.

U mnogim evropskim zemljama vernici učestvuju u ritualnim kupkama u ledenim jezerima i rekama — čin koji simbolizuje pročišćenje i obnovu vere.
