Dvoje Amerikanaca, jedan Rus i jedna Francuskinja pripremaju se za devetomesečni boravak na Međunarodnoj svemirskoj stanici (ISS) u okviru misije Crew‑12. Lansiranje je pomereno nekoliko dana ranije kako bi posada stigla na stanicu koja je krajem januara ostala delimično nenaseljena nakon hitne medicinske evakuacije članova prethodne posade.

Plan lansiranja i zadaci misije

NASA cilja lansiranje u petak, 13. februar, u 5:15 AM ET sa Lansirne rampe 40 na Cape Canaveral Space Force Station u Floridi. Raketni nosač SpaceX Falcon 9 će podići kapsulu Dragon koja nosi posadu; planirano pristajanje na ISS je u subotu, 14. februara.

Crew‑12 će provesti oko devet meseci na orbitalnom laboratoriju, obavljajući rutinsko održavanje, servisne zadatke i naučne eksperimente prilagođene mikrogravitaciji. Misija je deo NASA‑inog Programa komercijalne posade, kojim agencija angažuje privatne kompanije za prevoz ljudi i tereta u orbitu, oslobađajući resurse za lunarne programe i buduće misije ka Marsu.

Zašto je lansiranje ubrzano

Oribitalna stanica je bila nedovoljno popunjena od sredine januara kada je jedna od članica posade Crew‑11 imala zdravstveni problem i cela posada je hitno vraćena na Zemlju. Pored toga, odlaganje misije Artemis 2 na mart otvorilo je mogućnost da Crew‑12 poleti nešto ranije.
