Službeno: Shadow Dobio Novo Društvo — Orlica Imenovana Kaydee

Potvrđeno je: novo društvo čuvenom beloglavom orlu Shadowu zvanično je dobilo ime Kaydee. Ime potiče od oznake "KD1" na prstenu oko njenog stopala — oznake koju stručnjaci koriste za praćenje ptica.

Kaydee i Shadow često su viđeni zajedno u gnezdu i na susednim granama u Big Bear Valley u južnoj Kaliforniji, od dolaska Kaydee 10. avgusta. Zbog učestalih susreta, volonterska grupa Friends of Big Bear Valley retko je donela odluku da je zvanično imenuje, objavivši to 19. avgusta.

Shadow i Kaydee su prvi put snimljeni zajedno u porodičnom gnezdu 13. avgusta, nekoliko dana nakon što je potvrđena smrt Shadowove dugogodišnje partnerke Jackie. Posmatrači su ih videli kako dodiruju kljunove, sede rame uz rame i krckaju uokolo — ponašanja koja ukazuju na blisku, prijateljsku interakciju.
