Seul — Severna i Južna Koreja i danas su razdvojene jednom od najnaoružanijih granica na svetu. To podseća da je Korejski rat (1950–1953) okončan primirjem, a ne mirovnim sporazumom, zbog čega su obe zemlje tehnički i dalje u stanju konflikta.
Više od sedam decenija od početka sukoba, tragovi rata ostaju jasno vidljivi: utvrđenja i vojna prisutnost duž Demilitarizovane zone (DMZ), memorijali posvećeni žrtvama i obilje podsećanja na gubitke.
Za mnoge porodice posledica je i lična tragedija — generacije su razdvojene, a preživeli i potomci i dalje nose sećanja na razdvajanja, nestale i izgubljene voljene. Ta bol i čežnja za ponovnim susretom i danas utiču na živote ljudi na obe strane granice.
Iako su borbe formalno prestale potpisivanjem primirja 27. jula 1953. godine, simbolika i realnost podele ostaju trajni podsetnici istorije. Mesta sećanja i ratni spomenici služe ne samo kao podsetnik na prošlost, već i kao pouka koju treba prenositi narednim generacijama.
